The test assesses the survival of bacteria type Escherichia Coli ATCC 8739 on the surface of Calacatta Active 300x150 cm subjected to 0.25mW/cm2 (2.5W/m2) UV radiation for 8 hours.
Under test condition specified in the description sample, the bacterial reduction is equal to 99.99%.

ISO 27447:2009 - Test method for antibacterial activity of semiconducting photocatalytic materials (Staphylococcus Aureus)

The main purpose is to determine whether a material possesses antibacterial properties thanks to the photocatalytic activity .
The test consists in contacting the sample with Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 43300 methicillin-resistant (MRSA) and irradiating it under a UV light source whose wavelength and power are precisely specified by the standard.
The choice of the modality of irradiation is fundamental in order to have a measurement that highlights the real role of the photocatalytic material.
The test ends with the count of the remained bacteria and therefore the calculation of the parameter ΔR, which is the value of the material photocatalytic antibacterial activity.
