ANTI-ODOUR EFFECTIVENESS

Odour is caused by molecules with a particular composition that, when present, are perceived by the nose and recognized. However, odour is a very difficult parameter to measure, as it reflects the property of a certain substance that stimulates the human olfactory system. The smell could be either pleasant or unpleasant, strong or barely perceptible, however an environment devoid of odours is always preferable both in private and public spaces.

ANTI-ODOUR EFFECTIVENESS

For the study of the degradation of odoriferous molecules by Active in the laboratory two model molecules were chosen: methyl mercaptane, a colourless gas characterized by the foul smell of rotten cabbage and alpha-pinene, a molecule used as a fragrance from characteristic smell of pine, used in many deodorizing products for small and closed environments such as cars.
The results obtained have shown the absolute effectiveness of Active in
eliminating also this type of molecules.

HOW DOES ACTIVE WORK?

Thanks to the photocatalytic properties, the odorant molecules, which encountered the Active surfaces, are degraded and destroyed, eliminating the unpleasant odours.
